redcross.bmpRed Cross centers across the state of North Carolina will have "Save a Life Saturday" on March, 5th, 2011. The purpose of this event is to offer free CPR classes and emergency first aid skills to anyone interested in learning. This is a wonderful example of how donations to the Red Cross are used. The classes will last no more than 3 hours to teach the basic skills of how to save a life.

As a North Carolina personal injury attorney I have represented thousands of people injured as a result of a number of circumstances. For many of my injured clients, emergency first aid would have minimized the severity of their injuries. Sadly, some may have lived if emergency first aid would have been administered.

I would love to see people gather their family and friends together for first aid training. These courses may last a total of 3 hours. Often centers like the Red Cross will offer free training. For those who attend church, have a training session for your congregation. For those who have social gatherings on weekends, plan a party where people can socialize and learn basic lifesaving skills. For those who own their own business, take a half day to train your staff. The more people trained in first aid, the more lives that will be saved. At some point in your life, first aid skills will be necessary, please take the time to be prepared, it's a great way to give back to the communities we live in.
